This is a great bass but just doesn't get the love it deserves. I have others that are my "go-to" basses and I would love for this bass to go to a player that will make it their #1. If you want to channel your inner Jah Wobble, Barry Adamson, Kim Gordon, Paul D’Amour of Tool, or Ross Valory, this is the bass for you.

I much prefer to do a straight sale, however, I do have a soft spot in my heart for First Act Custom Shop basses and G&L L1000's. I do keep an open mind and would listen to offers for vintage 4-stringers that are 9.5lbs or less. I suppose I’d also be interested in vintage all-tube 100+ watt heads like an Ampeg V4b, Mesa Buster, Traynor YBA100, 200, 300, etc. Any head would need to be in perfect health.

Electronics: Original Ovation Magnum pickups. Mono & stereo outputs (I haven’t used it, but I was told that a prior owner has modified the stereo output so that a regular cable will work; again, I haven’t ever felt the need to try it – the regular mono output works fine for my purposes), 3-way toggle selector switch, and volume/tone controls for each pickup. The neck pickup also has individual volume controls for each pole piece.

Case Details: Original case that has seen better days but still closes and has 4 latches; the 2 outer hinges come apart and need new pins
Cosmetic Condition: The finish is glossy with wear appropriate for its age. The bass is pushing towards 48 years old so there are normal and expected finish scratches and small dings throughout the body and neck, particularly along the edges of the body and on the back. There is a repaired split (done well) in the pickguard but it is still visible. A prior owner put shielding tape on the back of the pickguard and cavity.

Tech Notes: Plays well with low action and minimal neck relief; the frets are wide and low with light play wear (I’d call the frets 75% approx.).
· The 3rd rear adjustment bolt at the tail end of the bridge (at back) is not working so you can't use it to pull the tail end of the bridge down any, but that is supposedly common on those old Magnums; however, this bass has low action as-is.
· The mute mechanism is long gone.
Being sold AS-IS. It is used, it is approximately 48 years old, has wear and tear, but functions as intended. Very versatile. If you have ANY questions, please message me.

Because of the design of the bridge, it is a long stretch up to the nut and with a lot of strings, the silks may rest on the nut. I tried a few different brands and had to trim some silks as needed. Just an FYI.
