1972 Fender Jazz Bass :bassist:
"Aston Family Man Barrett" the bass

What can I say? This bass is awesome.
Thumps like Fams (Aston Barrett).
Bright like Geddy.
Gnarly like Tim Commerford.
It's everything you'd want and expect in an early 70s jazz bass.

Some bumps and bruises, but in excellent condition for its age.
I love the spots where the burst is coming through the black.

I'd hold on to this one, but I'm itching for a late 50's P.
  • Sunburst w/ tort guard
  • Maple neck, blocked and bound
  • Tug bar and ashtrays

I had the same problem with the main photo on one of my ads. I'll look and see how I did that and message you back.
I only looked because this is my birth year bass.

Same birth year for me as well. What kills me is back in the late 90s or so in NY, guitar shops had these beat up 70s basses in their used stocks with many selling for a couple of hundred but nothing more than $1200-$1500 or so depending on condition. I remember I had my eye on this antiqua p bass that was a beauty but not worth it considering brand new guitars were shiny and bright and roughly the same price.

Nice instrument. Good luck with the sale.

So Cal
Gorgeous bass, wow!!!

Side note, perhaps I missed it, but don’t those pickups date to 1982, and the bass is earlier 72ish? Thoughts?
