Another unexpected expense leads me to one more price drop!
1983 Fender Precision bass in excellent condition, super clean for its nearly 40 year life. Previous owner stated this is all original. I can confirm the neck stamp dates to 3/30/83. The pots, if I’m interpreting correctly, date to 1982. The body does not have a date marking. The pick guard is stamped with “J. Torres” whose name appears on many Fenders of this era.
This P bass comes from an era when production was done in Fullerton, CA. It features the vintage 1.75” nut width, which was too much for me to adapt to, having played predominantly Jazz width necks for years now. It is strung with Rotosound 77 Jazz Flats and plays/sounds very smooth. Weight was 10.1 lbs on a bathroom scale.
Cosmetically, there is some minor swirling. There are a couple of superficial scratches and a very small scuff toward the back/bottom of the bass. These blemishes are generally difficult to see unless angled correctly in bright lighting. There appears to be some discoloration of the side dots. There are no significant chips, dings, or dents and no deep scratches.
The bass comes in a generic tweed hard shell case with red lining. The case is in good condition, but not as clean as the bass itself. All latches work. No key included.
Editing trade considerations one more time… really want to net some cash on the deal, so I’d consider:
