how does this one compare to the sansamp DI/Eq pedal from same company? Some websites only list this as for guitar..... any issues with the bands chosen for eq?

This is excellent on bass guitar. It's essentially a studio channel strip for your pedalboard. The chosen bass and treble frequencies are well suited for bass! The 2 semi-parametric controls allow near infinite adjustability. Also the low pass and high pass filters make the bass sit great in a mix with kick drum and guitars, and could be considered akin to a cabinet simulator if so inclined.

Comparing it to the sansamp line. They aren't even close honestly.
The q-strip is a clean signal adjusting utility knife that lets you boost and fine tune your sound. It imparts a lot of studio goodness to the sound without altering your initial signal.
The Sansamp will make your bass sound like, well... a Sansamp and that's pretty much it, depending on which version you're talking about. It alters your sound quite a bit and imparts it's own thing to the signal.
So, one "Q-Strip" is a clean swiss army knife, the other "Sansamp" is intended to be an amp in a box.

Well I have the Tech21 bass fly rig, which has the sansamp built in. It fits my purposes, but I do tend to look around at gear wondering what I would do if I actually got good enough where it merited getting more expensive gear for gigging/getting paid. This looks like it would be handy for what you describe - particularly the HPF to clean up some of the muddyness on b strings. I dont have the need right now, but thanks for the reply. Good to hear a review.
