LMAO... yes, I know all that. But that is an unusually nice looking fish - I don't see many as well marked as that where I catch them, so wondering if that is a more characteristic colouring from another region.

Dibs on the Muskie

That one came from a particularly clear lake which is maybe why it has such a silver appearance and sharp contrasting spots. It just has a "healthy" look to it. Skis often tend to have a much greener overall tint here in the algae ridden lakes around Minneapolis. The day we caught this guy we had about 6 follows and lure attacks but no other full takers, all seemed to be similar in size and color. People talk about the "Leech Lake" strain which is prolly the strain of the one pictured and where lots of fish lineage in our area comes from. "Tiger" and "Shoepack" strains are around too which I think are both Northern / Muskie hybrids, and can handle harsher lake conditions.
