Details

33" scale, custom Rob Allen mb-2 fretted 5 string for sale.

Piezo pickup plus custom wood-cover mag pickup
Exhibition grade Koa top
F hole
Nickel silver mandolin frets

Please note these unique, custom specifications:
- String spacing 14-15 mm at saddle
- Nut width 1.6"
- Width of neck at 22nd fret 2.5"

Reverse headstock and through body aluminum string catch on the back to enable it to be strung with standard scale strings.

Comes with a ramp; tape appears unused, but there is notable string wear on it, so it was installed at some point before I owned it.

7lbs. - weighed on travel scale

Comes with RA mb-2 custom G&G case with keys.

Note photo: The bass has an extra hole in the lower bout - it appears as if someone moved the jack at some point.

There are some very small nicks and dings in the bass. I've taken a photo of the bottom to show.

Master Volume (treble side of bridge)
Blend (bass side; has detent)

Full description and specs in my NBD post here.

Rob said that if he were to build this bass to this spec, he'd charge $8,000 for the work.

Price PayPal; shipping and insurance now included. Will be well packed in the G&G custom case.

Both pickups have plenty of low end and highs. There is a tone adjustment screw in the cavity that I think likely goes only to the piezo. But I haven't messed with it and don't actually know what it affects. It's similar to the one in my very first mb-2 (piezo only), though. I now have sound files I can provide on request. Shoot me a PM!

Oh Boy! Looking for a fretted Rob Allen to complement my fretless.
This is a great deal too. (Scheming how I could make this work!)

Hope it finds a good home (meaning my home.)

I know that having a magnetic pickup to blend in would make my mb-2 much more versatile and useful. Don't have the funding for this, just encouraging anyone contemplating it :-) That's a really special RA.
