For those familiar with these basses, they need no particular introduction, but for those who are unaware. This is an exceptionally rare initial run version of of the now-discontinued 4004 Laredo bass, Ric's second attempt (arguably after the nearly unheard of 4002) at a more "modern", streamlined, and functional bass with a much more intuitive and conventional bridge, master volume/master tone controls, pickup selector switch and their new (at the time) HB-1 humbucking pickups that are, of course, dead quiet while still somehow retaining the recognizable Ric sound, albeit thicker. The electronic control cavity is also shielded, therefore making this the quietest Ric i've ever had. This bass is crazy lightweight, thanks to its sleek slimmed down and contoured body, weighing in at only 7.5lbs! The bass is 100% stock with the original hardshell case and West German Schaller tuning pegs. I've tried to detail the cosmetic wear best I can for a bass coming up on its 30'th birthday, it doesn't have anything you wouldn't expect. Frets are in perfect condition on a neck that feels more like a 50's Fender Precision than any other 4000 series bass i've ever played. Mostly looking for a sale, but i'm open to trades, particularly older Rics, Gibsons, and Kramer-era Spectors.
