Details

Due to downsizing to a smaller house / condo I need to reduce the amount of music gear that I can keep. Unfortunately this means I need to sell my wonderful Martin Keith Elfin 5. The design of this bass is unique and in trying to figure out how to best describe it I decided to insert the following quote from the Martin Keith website:

“The Elfin is a slightly-downsized take on the popular "Singlecut" style, originally pioneered by Fodera Guitars and Kenneth Lawrence. This compact-bodied shape is shortened, for full access to all 24 frets. The shape hugs the player and nestles into a very comfortable playing position, standing or seated. The extended upper bout supports the neck heel further than a usual double-cutaway body, allowing more contact between body and neck, and making the neck more rigid by shortening the unsupported section. A more rigid neck translates into a faster, more responsive attack, longer sustain, and deeper bass. The compact size also makes this model well-suited for heavier, denser body woods such as Hard Ash, heavier Walnut, and even Maple, allowing the player access to the tones of those woods without the excessive weight.”

The quality of this build is outstanding and the condition is like new with no mars of any kind in the finish. The combination of the spalted maple top and the dark wenge neck and finger board gives it a distinctive and rich look. The Music Man pickup and the Aguilar 3 band preamp are well matched and produce a wide range of tones. I have it strung B to G although the previous owner praised its responsiveness when strung E to C. The zero fret makes it easy to string it either way. The B string is tight and has great tone with no muddiness. All in all this is a great bass and because of its compact size along with the 32” scale – is very easy to play.

I will ship this bass via Fedex in a well-padded gig bag, boxed with lots of bubble wrap, and insured.

$2000 shipped CONUS

*Note: This bass has side dots but not face dots – the face dots you see are decals that I added - I can either leave them on or remove them for you.
