Maruszczyk JAKE 5 String Bass
This is an absolutely brilliant bass that can capture a huge Precision Bass or Music Man tone but with both pickups together it's a beast! Super defined but also really deep and present lows. Mids are really balanced and you can definitely get them to stand out by adjusting the balance of the pickups.
I dialed in the neck and action to be as low as possible with no fret buzz for my style of playing. It could probably go even a smidge lower if you were a super light handed player but it's effortless to play as it is. Compression wound strings are only a month old and haven't been played for more than a few hours at this point.
This was owned by another TB member who bought it brand new and I've only owned it for a handful of months now. Here is the original post from him: SOLD - Maruzczyk 5 Delano pickups EXTRAS
It's in excellent condition besides the one dent shown in the photo. It didn't disrupt the finish fortunately so it doesn't catch your eye too much.
Body is highly figured swamp ash with heavy grain and a flat finish that feels awesome! I think this is the "violin burst" as far as I can tell from the configurator
Especially for a 5 string... this is by far the most comfortable neck I've played
Neck is hard rock maple with matching headstock
Fingerboard is katalox, with 21 frets 34 inch scale
Nut width is 45mm
Pickups: Delano MC 5 FE humbucker + PMVC 5 FE/M2 split coil
Electronics are passive - volume, volume, tone and the tone lifts which I believe switches it from parallel? When you lift it, volume drops and the sound is a bit thinner... it was never a sound that seemed desirable so I didn't fiddle with it much. The tone knob turns kinda loosely but works perfectly.
Hardware is chrome with 17 mm string spacing at the bridge
Weight is 8.9 pounds
Comes with a really nice Reunion Blues gig bag... if you don't want the gig bag, I'd take $50 off the price.
Also comes with two other options for pick guards.
I'd really love to keep this bass, but it just doesn't get played enough.. can't justify having such a gorgeous instrument collecting dust. It needs to be played.
I will cover the first $100 of shipping or I'd be happy to meet you within 100 miles of Medford, OR. I do go up to Portland somewhat often too.
I'm happy to answer any questions!
Only trades I might consider as partial trade would be a nice 5 string neck that would fit my Squier jazz bass project.
