Hello all! Been a long time since I've been active here as I've been very focused on my career since getting married a few years ago..... but I'm hoping to be more active here again now.
Today we have my as-new Strandberg Bodem Bass Prog 5. This is the lightest, most resonant bass I have ever strapped-on. The way I understand it from the Strandberg crew the body is heavily chambered under the quilted top. I've held and played a number of "weight-relieved" instruments (which just have bunches of holes punched in the body with a drill) and even some ostensibly "chambered" basses and none of them "rang" like this one. I have no other way to put it.
The workmanship is excellent, and the real value is in the incredible neck geometry. Playing it feels like nothing I can describe. The neck and their ergonomic, lightweight body design is Strandberg's main value proposition, and it's real.
However.... it seems I can no longer avoid the fact that I'm returning good old fashioned 4-bangers in my old age.
Before we talk price, a disclosure; This bass was originally listed for sale in the EU by Strandberg as a factory BLEM before I acquired it. The blem seems to be a small imperfection in the finish applied to an area of the back of the neck. I will do my best to highlight this in the better pictures coming later. You cannot feel it when playing, you can barely see it when looking and, at least for me, my audience would never see it. Otherwise, this bass is PERFECT, factory new, and not a mark or a scratch anywhere. It is virtually unplayed... I've spent maybe an hour on it total. Bass will include all the factory tools, goodies, and the very nice premium Strandberg gigbag.
Due to the small blem I am pricing this out at several hundred dollars less than the lowest sold Reverb listing I could find for this bass, as I would rather sell it here to a TB member than list it on the 'verb. $2,500 includes the bass, the premium gigbag, tools and goodies. I have 2 new basses on the way so sorry, no trades, unless you happen to a Sandberg Oliver Reidel!!
