For sale Price Reduction-1880 Tyrolean 5/8 Flat-back Upright Bass

I am selling my circa 1880 Tyrolean Fully Carved 5/8 Flat-back upright bass. The bass is in excellent condition and was fully restored by the previous owner Malcolm Cecil. The playability and action is effortless. The volume is very good for a smaller instrument and the sound with pizz is very, very nice. It has a great tone, clarity, depth, growl and punchiness. The tone bowed is exceptionally beautiful throughout the entire fingerboard. It really shows it’s age here. Bass is strung with Evah Pirazzi hybrid strings. I can send sound samples at your request.

The Back is made of Low Figure Quarter Sawn Maple and the Ribs are made of Low Figure Maple. The Top is made of Straight Grain Spruce. The neck is made of Maple and was replaced by the previous owner when the restoration was done. A Neck Block was also installed and the Scroll is original to the instrument. Bass has bumpers, a Fishman Full-Circle pickup and bridge adjusters. The bass had a recent set-up done, with sound post adjustment and is ready to be enjoyed. A case is also included.

I am asking $6,200, even though being appraised for $10,000, as I am pricing this beautiful instrument to sell. And local pick-up only.
