This is an absolutely gorgeous 5 string Wombat bass made by Form Factor Audio. This bass has never left the home or studio, and will come safely shipped with the gig bag it was received in. The only reason I am parting with this bass is because I need to free up space and funds for a new fretless short scale 5 string, and I'm told that I have too many toys... My loss is your gain here. The harder the wood, the greater the string tension and this bass is made of Hard North European Swamp Ash.
The quarter sawn Ash neck is stiffer than plain sawn, and will also affect string tension.
This is exactly why the Low B 5th string on this bass sounds better than on most 35" scale basses.
DUAL TRUSS ROD SYSTEM
All Form Factor instruments utilize Dual Truss Rods made from Titanium to maintain neck stiffness, stability and reduce weight. There are a lot of basses on the market with a tendency to have weak neck binding structures due to high string tensions. For this reason, two Titanium rods are applied to all bass guitars.
TUSQ NUT
The nut is one of the most important parts of the bass that influences the performance, playability, and tone of the instrument. Depending on the quality of the material, the nut can either improve or degrade the sound. Although the TUSQ nut is more costly and harder to work with, it is considered to deliver more balanced, clearer and smoother tones than brass, corian or other materials.
