It has come time that I sell my Johan Rauner bass. I've owned this instrument for the past 26 years and it has been consistently healthy and a joy to play. It has a gorgeous sound that projects extremely well, and is sweet and well balanced under the bow. The bass was just gone over by Zach Lane where it received a clean bill of health and a seasonal bridge/soundpost adjustment. Over the last 6 years the bass has lived at two Broadway shows and has left an impression on everyone that has played it. On the first show I made the mistake of not putting a case over the instrument when not in use and the dryness of the theater took its toll in the form of a bass bar crack. This was expertly repaired at David Gage in 2017. The bass came back sounding better than it has ever sounded. Apart from this the bass has needed practically nothing in the 26 years that I've owned it. It is an exceptional jazz bass but would be equally adept in a bass section. I've loved owning this bass, I'm very sad to see it go, but excited for its next chapter.

The top is two pieces of spruce and the back and sides are a highly flamed quarter-cut maple. The bass was made in in Nurnberg Germany, most likely in the 1950's, and certainly the top of the line offering by Rauner.
Comes with a Gage copperhead realist installed in 2020, a gaines bass wheel, bow quiver and an extremely well worn but functional Mooradian case. Wearing a very old set of Spiros.
Lastly, here is a video of my buddy Logan playing the bass a bit. I ambushed him when at the beginning of a visit and he was generous enough to oblige.
