This is a really nice Carvin SB5000 Bass, that’s absolutely beautiful and sounds killer! Slap tone on this thing is wicked!
This guitar was built in 2011 and as you can see, has been well cared for! With the exception of some very minor things, it’s near mint. Pics show them.
There isn’t a new American Fender on the market that sounds, feels or plays better than this. That I can assure you.
Tonally, this thing is awesome! Fantastic lows, very articulate highs and driving mids. Plenty of the late 60’s Jazz bass growl, and loads of range. That range is provided by the upgraded Audere JZ3 preamp.
What’s interesting is that, while bright, it’s not overbearing like some maple and ash basses sound. It’s got warmth as well. Definitely unique. Overall the tone just wasn’t quite right for the project I got this for.
Weight is nice at about 9.2lbs. Balances really well.
The neck profile is really enjoyable to play on. Kind of a hybrid 60’s Jazz neck. Plays nice and easy. Very fast.
The finish is absolutely ridiculous! Under the lights, this thing looks stellar! The metallic green is really good. One of the better, deeper metallic finishes I’ve seen in a while.
Specs:
- 34” scale
- ash body
- Maple Neck w/ Birdseye Maple board
- 9.7 lbs.
- 19mm string spacing
- 1.75” nut

Overall, this is just a really nice bass, with some very robust and rangey tone! If you’re looking for a really great Jazz style bass that can give you some range you may not get with the one you currently have. This is your bass.
