For sale Audere Classic onboard preamp

I just installed this model preamp in my bass. It has two Bartolini dual coil humbuckers. I LOVE the way the mid stack operates. All my other concentric mid preamps have a selectable mid frequency, which you can cut or boost. This is a better mid control, the upper mids are the top knob, and lower mids are the bottom. Makes much more sense, and it actually gives the player the option to easily cut or boost both areas of midrange simultaneously.
It's very high quality, and quiet. The small pots creates a lot more room in the control cavity. HIGHLY recommended.
P.S. - I just installed a really nice Nordstrand three band in a client's bass. The Audere is just as good in almost every way, and it's about half the price.

I do not. I just carefully removed this from a Spector I recently bought. It's actually a really great sounding preamp!

Dave Meadows (aka Audere) preamps are amazing... I met Dave at a TB get together in Hood River, OR way back there. I played his 70's L2K modded with his preamp... spent the next 3 days trying to pry it from his hands... had to settle for the preamp ;-) I have installed several since then and love them. The audere is maybe the only preamp I have ever encountered that goes completely transparent when the tone controls are centered. Want to know what that combination of wood, wire and pickups really sounds like ? The Audere is a good way to find out.

I've been installing preamps in basses since the early days.. I have a rare and coveted 'Stars Guitars' (Marcus Miller) two band pre- in my 1981 Mahogany bass, now retired from rotation. I once even installed an imported ESP preamp in a friend's P- bass, about 1980 or so, IIRC, and the instructions were in Japanese only! That, was quite a challenge, to say the least. I have done a lot of installs, and R&R of just about every preamp there has ever been, up to now. There's so many on the market, it's likely I won't get to hear the Lusithand, Glockenklang or Noll ones. Unless....
My observations are this- Alembic really did change the World of bass with it's incredible electronic innovations. Then, as now, those preamps are totally out of the reach of the average player. A set of Jazz pickups- last I looked, with a simple filter, was close to a grand. Then, a little more down to Earth, came Leo Fender's game changer- the affordable, active Music Man Stingray Bass, in 1976. Figures, Leo would do that. At the same time, I started installing the first sets of EMG's. They were quiet, but lacked the HF response of the stock Fender pickups in the studio cat's Strats. EMG has come a long way since 1976.
Aguilar, Bartolini, John East, Audere, Nordstrand, Sadowsky, and even the Korean made Tone Blaster preamps you can get on Ebay, are all excellent. The Tone Blasters, are not quite on the level of the others, but on a budget- they're a great choice. I have one in a bass and it sounds really good.
As far as quality, The Audere seems to be right on par with the East's, and a little less complicated, as well. I like that. I also like that a killer pre- for $129.00 in this time of rising prices, and 300 dollar preamps, is a really good thing. I've been around for 70 years, repairing for 50 now... When I began, there were literally NO aftermarket parts other than DeArmond pickups, Grover and Schaller tuning machines, and parts the factories sold as replacements. I've seen really incredible leaps in technology.

no, it's two different midrange frequencies, high-mid/low-mid, boost and cut. Honestly I only removed this because I don't like stacked pots…it's one of best preamps I've ever used.
