Up for sale is this really neat Aria Pro II Avante Steve Bailey 6 String bass.
This is somewhat of a rarity being both the late 90s model and the fretted version. Currently setup with Curt Magnan strings. It has dual truss rods and a very thin neck for a 6 string. By far the most comfortable playing 6 string I’ve owned to date. The only reason I’m selling is because these basses are known to be very heavy and this one is no exception weighing in at 12.8 lbs on my bathroom scale.
I am not sure if the preamp in this bass is original. The controls are master volume, pickup blend, middle contour, a switch that’s currently not wired to do anything, and then a stack bass and treble contour. This thing rips and has everything you need from the gospel sound to a very clean and clear chordal sound.
Now the bad;
-There are surface scratches throughout the instrument and some dings here and there. The most notable ding is at the treble side of the bridge pickup where the finish is somewhat worn through. The other is some finish issues just above the nut.
-Aside from that, the worst of the scratches appear to be some letters that were scratched into the back of the bass by a previous owner. I have tried my best to photograph them.
-There is currently a buzz that is present when not touching the strings or the bridge. I believe it’s due to improper shielding.
All in all this is a very nice playing and excellent sounding bass. It just has some wear and tear. I’m trying to be as honest as possible in the description here.
Looking for $450 + $50 shipping in the Lower 48. No case.
Thanks!
