This is my daughter's 1970's sb30. She is having a tough time selling it (emotionally) but her school and hockey schedules don't allow her to get a job and she needs some money. Badly! Her twin brother (who is working) has been paying for thier car entirely right now.
She decided she can always play my basses? (Hey! Wait a minute!!!)
She plays guitar now for the most part unless she is at school.
So as I said, It's a 1970's sb30. There is a changed knob, no covers or thumb rest. The covers come up for sale every once in a while. She never cared much about that. It is a really nice playing and sounding bass. It's funky and cool. I can see how they are very sought after (There are 2 up on Reverb right now for over $900). It comes with lots of nicks and bumps. I tried to photograph them but the ones on the neck were hard to photograph. It would be easy enough to lightly steel wool the back of the neck and buff it out. They don't effect playability. The model number was scratched off the fret board. I would assume that meant this was stolen at one time in its 50 years of life. We purchased it through GC. Here in NY all used equiptment sold to retailers, over $14 has to have a background check through the Sheriff's dept and cannot be sold until it passes. So it should be fine. I have never needed to open the bass up and I think she still has the same strings on it from when she bought it 4 years ago. It does have a case. Not a great one but also not an awful one. Honestly I will have to pull it out and take a picture of it. All I remember is that it has someones phone number on it! Free to pickup in the wny area. I travel between Buffalo, Rochester, and Rome NY weekly. I also travel out of state about 3 times a month. In the next few weeks I will be in Nashville, Detroit (Novi), and Syracuse. Week of Christmas break we will be back in Boston. Let me know if any of that works! Thanks for looking!
