Hello folks,

I'm here to sell this Precision bass that is from the 73 - 75 area. It's a prime example of Fender mismatching parts for their builds in that era.

The instrument as a whole is in excellent shape. According to the guy I bought it from he got it from a guy who had it in a basement in WV for years untouched. I personally haven't ever seen a neck still this pale on a early 70s model.

The guy I bought it from had changed out some parts on it and failed to inform me of this at the time of purchase. The parts that he replaced (I believe) are as followed:

-Pickups
-Wiring and potentiometers (one dates to 72 and the other 73 according to my tech.)
-Pickguard? I'm not sure about this one, it's the correct color and material but my tech wasn't 100 percent sure about it.
-Ashtray cover? I'm not sure about this one as well, I don't see a spot where a mute was ever attached and I'm sure they were still using mutes on the covers at that time.

Besides for that I believe the rest of the bass is original, the tuning keys haven't really tarnished yet and are still pretty shiny along with the finish on both the neck and body.

For an ash/maple combo this bass weighs approx. 9.2 lbs, on the lighter side for an ash body bass. The truss rod is a little tight however it still turns in both directions.

The neck has a slight ski jump on it, the frets have been filed to address the issue. On the A and D strings way up on the 16th and 17th frets it buzzes but that is the only problem area on the neck. A saddle adjustment and certain technique could probably alleviate the problem but I don't normally play that high up on the neck so it hasn't really ever bothered me. I play with medium/medium low action typically, if you are a player that likes to have action as low as it can go rattling on the frets this probably isn't the bass for you. Just being honest from the beginning.

Going back to the build itself, the body has the lower tug bar position which tells me the body is most likely '73 or before, the neck plate serial number dates it to 1974. However, according to the neck stamp, the code to me reads May of '75. Prime example of Fender using their stockpile of parts they had in that era. There was a negative shim added to the neck for reason when I got the bass, the photograph of the bottom of the neck reflects that. That negative shim has since been removed and added to the heel of the neck to help with the action. Since I already had a photo of the neck popped off I just decided to use that one, just wanted to point that out as well.

The case is in great shape, very clean inside and out. The middle latch is missing a screw on one side, I have photographed it when the latch isn't secured to show it. There is also the original cleaning cloth in the case as well.

This is a really nice looking and playing bass for someone who wants to enjoy a pretty good condition 70s P without the full vintage price tag, I would keep it for myself but I just bought another bass that I need to help pay for so this is the only reason I'm selling it. I'm open to offers but I believe this bass is pretty fairly priced. The core of the bass is still Fullerton parts that are in pretty good condition all things considered.

I will ship anywhere in CONUS, I will split shipping with the buyer. I'd prefer F&F but we can discuss price if you want to buy regularly through PayPal.

Feel free to ask any questions.
