I built this bass last spring on a whim but don't have much use for it so I'm letting it go, even though it has great tone and feel.

Here's a tone sample, a little minor blues so you can get a sense of what it sounds like:

I have roughly $1450 in it, including the case. I'm looking to sell it for $1250 shipped in the lower 48 (cost of actual shipping elsewhere).

For what this bass is, you're are asking a very reasonable price. That's why I haven't built one. When I add up the expenses of the desired components, I inevitably realize its better to buy one from someone like you. If I had lots of spare parts laying around, it might be different, but I don't. For your asking price, I don't believe any production bass could come close, particularly it's uniqueness, which shouldn't be overlooked.

Personally I love the Warmoths. I basically have a Fender Jazz, a Fodera, and then 4-5 Warmoth builds. I mean, the Fodera will always be my favorite, but there are places I just won't take it. Like I'm not handing it to someone I don't know at a blues jam! So I just built a really sweet Warmoth P with a set of Aguilar P/J pickups and a Noll TCM-3 preamp. It ran me about $2k but I won't be upset if it gets dinged up.

The best thing about it is that you can get exactly what you want. I like skinny, narrow Jazz necks on P bass bodies. And then you can pick out exactly the hardware you like with no compromises.

So you should totally try building one sometime. As long as you can do some simple soldering and know how to do a setup there's really not a whole lot to assembling a Fender style bass.

I've some builds, and I've kept them. Building a Tele guitar now with all top-end components. We'll see how that comes out. I use Nitro and it's fun. I love relic'ing as well.
So, lets keep this thread clean. This looks like a great bass, and the Fender MIJ current crop of these would be no contest to yours ( at roughly the same price ). This should make someone very happy indeed.

Beautiful work man. Love your selections, especially the narrow neck with the tele head. I did the same thing on a 66 jazz neck I stole on fleabay. The previous owner had put some awful 2x2 head on it and I had my local luthier remove it and replace it with a tele head. Put the neck on a lite roadworn p bass body with a vaughn skow pick up and it's my favorite working bass. What radius and profile did you use?

Thanks! That sounds like a cool working bass! The profile on this is their standard, so not quite as narrow as their slim taper. It's a 10" radius.
