There are some Kustom Cabs & Heads near me at a pawn shop. Easton PA...

That's the thing. Those Kustom Cabs are gonna be expensive to ship. They honestly don't measure up to todays standards for power handling either. Great to look at in the rehearsal space though.

Keep your eyes open. They turn up.

You’re in Kansas City? Go out to Lawrence(or call), and stop in at Richard’s Music on 8th Street, between Mass and New Hampshire. They should have something. After all, Chanute was only two hours south. Mass Street Music as well, south of downtown.

No, but I had possession of one of those and a matching cabinet (8 x10 maybe?). It didn't belong to me, but a friend abandoned it at my house for most of a year once when we were in HS.

I remember liking how it sounded, but our standards and my frame of reference were pretty limited. In the coolness department? That blue sparkle tuck-and-roll, like a Schwinn banana seat!

I'd love to show up at my next jazz gig with that thing.

I had a Plush 4000G with their 4X12 cabinet for years. 6550 tubes. Great memories.

There are a couple of dozen available now on reverb.com.

You know that Plush is a different brand that also used the tuck and roll naugahyde that you find on the old Kustom amps and cabs. In the nightclub group that I toured with back in 1971 through 1973 we had a Kustom tuck and roll naugahyde PA that we used strictly for vocals. We also used the Shure Vocal Masters that were common back then if they were supplied...the Kustom PA had a better sound.

In 1971 I went shopping for another amp when we were playing the Little Bohemian Club (Little Bo's) in Lincoln Nebraska for 2-weeks. My '66 Fender Bassman couldn't keep up with the Vox Super Beatle amps the guitars and keys had just purchased. Tried out a really impressive looking double stack of Plush amp and cabs and they were a little louder than my Bassman, but not much and definitely couldn't keep up with the Vox amps. Then I tried a Standel piggy-back amp at the end of the room (MCIIb/SAM30b) and just about shook everything off the walls in the store. Traded in my Bassman amp that day and used my Standel amp that night and for the rest of the time touring. Couldn't turn it above #3 on the dial indoors because it was so loud.

Yep. I also know that inexperienced sellers often intermingle the two names for one another. Searching for brands similar attributes or misspellings can turn up some interesting finds. I purchased my last convertible that had been listed for several months for steal, simply because the seller had spelled it "convertable".

Unrelated Kustom tidbits

Way back when, we would often would guess at which amps a band was using, (while we were outside or at least out of vie of the band). We were always correct when guessing Kustom bass amps.

In 1976 my B15S damaged the speakers in a Kustom 2x15 bass cab. The store claimed the speakers were "underpowered". Hog wash.

If memory serves me any of the Kustom bass cabs used 15" CTS speakers.

A friend of mine bought a 3x15 JBL loaded from his chiropractor. Hmmm... chiropractor selling a big heavy cabinet.

There used to be a band in Columbia Heights MN that used all Kustom amps around 2000 or so.

Back in the early 80s I was using a Kustom 2x15 cab with a Dual Showman. I really liked the sound but dang, it was heavy.

My first real PA was a Kasino with two matching towers. I think they were loaded with four 8” drivers per side?

You said you’re in missouri and your name has “kc” in it so I assume youre in the metro area. Welcome fellow kc resident. One thing you’ll notice is fb marketplace and guitar center are best for vintage gear in kansas city, as there are barely ANY used guitar shops worth a damn here. I just picked up a Sunn 200s cab for $300 from guitar centers used site, and thats where I find the best deals. Fb marketplace all over kc is just squiers listed for 300% over market value.
