Hi! I’m listing my all Fender, all American Standard (Except Fralins!) parts Jazz Bass V.

It is built entirely of American Standard parts, purchased and assembled by me in 2013. Fender didn’t build this body/neck combination, so I built my own.

Parts:

· 2013 Fender American Standard, 3 Tone Sunburst Jazz V body, purchased “new” from Stratosphere

· 2012 Fender American Standard, Maple Fingerboard Jazz V neck, purchased “new” from Stratosphere

· Fender American Standard hardware: Tuning machines, Bridge, Plates, Pots, Knobs, etc.

· Fender American Standard Tortoiseshell pickguard

· Fralin standard wind, single coil, Jazz V pickups

(the “new” in both cases above reflects Stratosphere’s practice of disassembling new instruments and selling the parts)

You may notice the Audere Jazz plate preamp in the parts pic. It didn’t make it into the final build. The bass was photographed with D'Addario Chromes, but now has GHS Pressurewounds. 45 minutes play time on them!

This is a parts bass. Great parts! The solder joints certainly don’t look factory, but I have gigged my builds without backups on a regular basis. Never a failure.
It’s as close to pristine as it gets. Barely played. I wanted a Jazz in the arsenal, but am a P bass player to my core.

I’m asking $1200, shipped UPS CONUS, in a Fender soft case. I have an SKB “chainsaw” hard case, negotiable. I’ll knock $125 off for North Houston/Conroe area local pickup.

Zelle, Venmo, or PAYPAL F&F

NO TRADES.

Thanks for looking! Jon

I don't want to come across as stupid but I'm going to ask, is this already built and that is how you are selling it or is this only parts you are selling and buy the way this bass is FREAKING AWESOME!!!!

This is built. Not stupid at all. I just collected all the parts over about 6 months, to make it more affordable, and laid them out for a picture before I started. :D

Thanks for the compliment!

I don’t expect this to last long. How’s the B string on this bass? I’m in the market for a 5 and I’ve always been a Fender guy, but I’ve only played active 5s in the past. How do the Fralins sound without a preamp?

You know, I'm a passive electronics guy. I love the Fralins! To me, they sound classic Jazz bass. I bought the Audere pre way back when, but talked myself out of using it. I had previously used one in an MIM Jazz V build with SCN Noiseless pickups. I felt they needed some help, but I don't remember loving it.

In this case, I decided to go CTS (Fender) pots with the Fralins and keep the Audere in reserve. I decided it didn't need it. I must have sold the Audere, but I don't remember.

I think the "B" sounds great, but my experience is limited to 34" FSOs. On all my basses, the B is used mostly for the low 5th, passing tones, and walkups. And up neck.

I also use one of these. The Stealth retainer. I find it increases the break angle across the nut. Seems to help on Fender 5s. I don't remember life without it. :bassist:
