Just wanna say, put a preamp like an fdeck in front of this thing and MAN, crazy how well it can hang volume wise. No drums situation=no problem. Even with drums It can hang to a reasonable degree. Also, the ULTIMATE electric practice amp!

Thanks, Samuel, you're right. I actually used the Double Four with a sextet playing at a Senior Residence. I'm just feeling a little self-conscious about all the gear I have collected, some of which I use all the time, some seldom, and some not once in the last year. Plus, I've got a lot of overlap with all that gear.

On the other hand, I don't want to sell anything I might regret selling (especially if it would be difficult to replace - such as my Genz-Benz 6.2).

Case in point: since I bought my most recent bass (a 1930's Czech Flatback) my 7/8 Gemunder hasn't gotten out of the house. Last night I decided to bring it to a piano, bass, and vocal trio gig with JUST my Xlson microphone and my Genzler Acoustic Pro. It sounded wonderful and I had a really fun time playing it.

The HPF on the Fdeck helps the speakers to be more efficient, but it does not add much in terms of gain. Using the Headway preamp with the D4 can REALLY get a lot of extra volume though.

Is this the version that can be powered with a computer battery? Is that still possible with these?
