Nash Precision Bass with 1.5” nut width.

This is a very nice “precision” bass from Nash. It is an early model that predates Nash’s present inventory system.

The original anodized aluminum pickguard was swapped out for a single ply plastic pickguard. The original is included. Note that it includes options to mount the finger rest in the thumb-rest or tug-bar positions.

The original Duncan SPB-1 was swapped out for a Fender Pure Vintage ’63 pickup. The original pickup was dead and has been disposed of.

The original scratchy pots have been swapped out with a fresh set of CTS pots and a .047 Orange Drop capacitor. The originals are included.

The strap buttons were changed to Dunlops. The originals are included.

The bass weight 9 pounds, 1 ounce.

The price included CONUS shipping.

Thanks for the question. I have a lengthy email discussion with with Bill Nash where I asked him about the bass. Here is a piece of that to explain:

You are correct in that it pre-dates our current serial and signature system. I cannot look it up as records do not go back that far. It does look completely legit. JS was probably the initials of the person that ordered it. Was a whole different system back then.

Can vouch for this. I bought one of Bill's early basses from Brian at LowEnd back in like 2007 used. Had someone's initials on top. The one that I bought didn't have his hand written signature on the back of the headstock or the sort of now current Nashguitars decal on the front either. Golden era of Nash instruments in my opinion!

The same initials are marked on the butt end of the neck and on the body under the pickguard.

Nice and full. More D like than C. It has some "shoulder" to it.

.85" at the 1st fret (fretboard front to back)
1.0" at the 12th fret (fretboard front to back)

The nut is 1.56" wide, but the strings are inset from that....1.25" center to center E to G

It may not be clear from the photos, but the bridge has threaded barrel saddles, so string spacing is adjustable.
