For Sale:
1966 Fender P-Bass.
I got this bass from David Gage's Bass shop in NYC some years ago.
It’s an old lacquer refinish, probably from the late 70’s or 80’s.
It's nicely worn with a lot of character.
Otherwise, it’s all original as far as he told me. The knobs may not be original - but they are period correct - or newer ones that have been aged.
There is no strap button on the back of the headstock.
There is a small crack in the pick guard(shown in one of the photos).
The story behind this bass as told by David Gage is that a woman came into the shop with this bass saying it belonged to her session bassist ex-husband, who had used this bass on the recording of “Good Morning Starshine” (a big hit single on Pop Radio in 1969). If i remember correctly, her husband had died and she was selling off some of his stuff.
David said that she had papers/photos documenting the story that she left with him. But after a search, he could not find them… oh well, it's a good story anyway - and believable.
I tried to do a little detective work years ago but couldnt come up with anything. Some one of my session pals, who is a bit oder than me, told me it was a New York session, and I found out that legendary session guitarist, Vinny Bell was on the date.
There was a cassette tape in the gig bag labeled “choir practice” that I will include - if anyone wants to listen to it and see if it contains any telling info.
It’s strung with labella Flats .109-.049.

I will include a non original hardshell case with it - or a gig bag if preferred.
Local Pickup Prefered.
