It is called a preamp by the manufacturer and they go on to say..."It’s just a relatively high plate voltage Tube with a level control capable of some serious boost in a small stylish pedal format." Relative to what? The board friendly 9v center negative power requirement?
It would have been more fun if Edison provided a little history about tubes designed to do their thing at (comparatively) low plate voltages for use in automotive systems. I mean just Imagine the bragging rights... "Well I got a bored out hemispheric 425 and a matched set of Eludeium500 output tubes!".
Are you paying attention? I’m saying no Ax7/Au7 tube rolling unfortunately but no ac cable either. Man I love solid state lead sled amps. I love the hybrid typologies. I'm appreciative and in awe of what's being done with digital amps. But I adore done right tube amps. I used to drag around a 400+ even after I got a rb800 (loved those!) so you can trust me! lol.
Used by itself it has a warm sweetening effect but remains tight the in bass frequencies. By itself the sweetening is subtle but easily detected. Now start stacking before, after etc, surprises await. This thing pushing any dirt really works and it does have a lot of gain on tap. It also works after dirt/fuzz to contain and integrate a super fuzzed out signal. In short the Night Owl is a hoot.

I have the little plexiglass window cover but it kept coming loose and does nothing for the appearance of the pedal. If I can keep it I’m going to fabricate a metal screen and relic it, think “Post-Apocalyptic Doyle” $119. shipped conus. Zelle is preferred. PPal OK
