Relisting after having hairline crack repaired.

For sale is my 1989 Warwick Thumb Bass Neck Thru 6 string. To borrow a line from another owner, this bass is from the Golden Age of Warwick Basses when they were handmade with Bubinga and Wenge wood. A third pickup was professionally installed closer to the neck.

I have owned this bass since 1994 and it has seen minimal play for nearly 30 years - it is in great shape. I am the second or third owner. The bass is beautiful and is a work of art.

Important Info:
- The previous owner had a third Bartolini pickup professionally installed and looks as if it was part of the original configuration. A 3 way toggle switch was also added.

- Hans-Peter Wilfer at Warwick thinks the electronics would have been changed if a third pickup was added (Hans-Peter did not inspect the bass, he is guessing over email). The inside cavity has two pieces of tape with writing – “Tom A” (the previous owner in 1994) and “F-off” (luthierspeak meaning do not touch please). The tone is fantastic, everything works and sounds great.

- The low B tuning peg has one side of the slot broken off that houses the string. I think it was that way when I got the bass 29 years ago and I have never had a problem with it. Picture is attached.

- There are small screw holes in the back of headstock. At one point the previous owner rotated the tuning machines to sit 90 degrees from the headstock. It is back to its original 45 degree angle but there are small screw holes in the back of the headstock from the change. Picture is attached, tough to see unless you are looking for them.

Below is information provided by Hans-Peter Wilfer at Warwick, he was super helpful.

The bubinga and wenge woods are spectacular and make this bass a work of art. The neck is in great condition - the bass plays great and sounds fantastic. This bass is a beast, it's heavy at over 13 pounds so get a good strap.

Comes with a simple gigbag – if you take this bass out to play you should use a better quality gigbag for protection.

If you are in NYC area, you are welcome to come by and test it out.
$3,100

**Added info regarding hairline crack on headstock **
I delisted the bass after a crack was identified by the B string Machine head. I brought the Thumb 6 to Brooklyn Lutherie https://www.brooklynlutherie.com and they were great. Chloe looked at it and said it was a hairline crack and was unphased by it, she thought it was fine.
Chloe filled the crack with cyanoacrylate glue and she also filled in the tiny screw holes that the previous owner had put in (the holes are reflecting in the picture, much tougher to see). Brooklyn Lutherie is 347-987-3835 if you want ask her q’s.
I added the new pics at the bottom.
For sale as I have too many basses, not interested in trades, $3,100. thanks, -Tom

I have to ask: is that a crack on the back of the headstock at the B string tuner?
