For sale 1938 Kay Bass

"Theodor Kreutzer" was a distribution brand of Grover Musical Products for its string imports, mostly from eastern Europe, from 1930 into the '70s. This is the only example I've seen of the label on a Kay bass, and I'll speculate that it indicates European supply-chain problems in the late '30s, which I believe were an important factor for Kay in deciding to expand into strings in '36-37. The label has come up in another TB thread.

I don't know that there's any connection between the string distributor and the machine maker.

Yes looks like same company. Checking the back of a Grover machine heads package, it reads, "Grover Musical Products Inc., Cleveland, Ohio 44114 USA www.GROTRO.COM"

Beautiful classic.

Price sure looks right for the apparent condition. Should be worth the drive for anyone in the market. Would be close to double the price 10 hrs south.
