Old Warwick dork here. I used to have a Thumb, and have had a Dolphin Pro I broadneck for 24 years. (Yikes!)

They almost all have 34” scale, with adjustable bridge spacing— 16.5mm is standard, and you can theoretically stretch that out to 18mm, but the B and G are *right* on the edge if you push them that far.

My only other question, since you know about Thumbs, is neck dive. I passed on a Thumb once.

My only other question, since you know about Thumbs, is neck dive. I passed on a Thumb once.

I absolutely loved the tone I got out of the the Thumb— mine had EMG J pickups — but ultimately found it wasn’t the right bass for me. Neck dive was part of it. I like to have the bass tilt up at like a 15-20 degree angle, and the Thumb always wanted to have the neck run parallel to the floor. Sitting, or standing, I was always fighting it.

Also, the pickup configuration I had put both Js way back at the bridge, so even rolling all the way to the neck pickup still had that mid-range, Piano, Jaco kinda vibe. It’s a *great* sound, but it was hard to coax a big, fat, round sound out of it.

With the Dolphin, I can get all those same tones, and with the neck pickup favored, it can do a pretty good imitation of a P-bass. Tonally, it’s like a cross between a Streamer and a Thumb. It’s a really versatile bass. Just changing right hand positions gets you all kinds of different, useable sounds.

Edit— I hear neck dive isn’t as pronounced with the bolt-on Thumbs, as the body is a little longer, and the neck isn’t pushed back as far into the horns/cutaways.

This one is 10.5 Lbs on the bathroom scale.

10.5 pounds is pretty normal for a Warwick. Mine’s a tank… closer to 12lbs. The Boire rosewood they used to make Dolphins with is crazy dense.

I’m on the lookout for a Streamer Stage I broadneck 5. Specifically because those extra two pounds make a big difference as you get older.

Wow! That’s bananas!

You don’t see these come up for sale very often, new or used, and I think this one was priced totally fairly, especially considering what great shape it’s in.

Whoever bought this is gonna have a TON of fun with it. They’re such nice instruments. Super flexible, despite having such a unique body shape.

I was a few months late on this. Dangit.

I know whoever got it probably doesn't like and should send me a message and I would take it off their hands at a fair price. (one can dream right? )
