1972 Fender Precision Bass body that has the following modifications:
J pickup route in bridge position (profession routing job)
Lindy Fralin PJ pickup set
Control cavity and pickup route are shielded with foil.
Leo Quan BA II bridge
The following parts are original:
Body (except for J route mod)
Finish
4 ply tort pick guard (1 extra hole)
2 stack pole pots
2 knobs
Strap buttons
Neck plate
The controls are VVT. A CTS pot with a 1983 date code was added when the J pickup was added. The previous owner stated that the initial mod was done in the early 80”s, so that makes sense. Originally a single coil J pickup was added. Some years later he installed the Fralin set that are currently in the bass. It looks like the original stockpile pots were retained, but date codes are covered.
The pick guard is in excellent shape with no cracks or warpage.
The original finish looks great. It has a usual amount of wear, dings and chips for an instrument this age.
The neck pocket was sanded and some very slight widening of the pocket (on the long side) was done years ago when a Warmoth neck was installed. The Warmoth neck was a nice snug fit in the pocket.
The neck plate pictured is included and it is original to this body.
