This pair of US-made Bartolini soapbar pickups were OEM in my 1999 Dingwall Z2.
They are BC-shaped humbuckers, so all dimensions listed for BC pickups on the Bartolini website apply to these.
However, the coils of the pickups are arranged in a “Reverse P” orientation like Bartolini’s “Original Split” pickups, which are not currently offered in a 4-string version.
Aside from the dimensions, the description of the “Original Splits” fully describes these pickups:
“Original Splits provide you with deep lows and low-mids along with nice treble complexity for manageable growl. They are full and warm for vintage tone, enhancing the natural voice of your bass. They are very responsive and bring out the natural voice of your instrument.
We sometimes put the string sensing width at the beginning of soapbar part numbers… [based on that, the string sensing width on these pickups is 63mm/2.48" for the bass/neck pickup and 66mm/2.59" for the treble/bridge pickup]
The coils are fully shielded and sealed so they are sweat-proof and immune from invisible noise of stage and studio equipment. The cables are shielded too.
Available in balanced versions for neck (Bass, -B) and bridge (Treble, -T).
The bridge pickup has a higher output than the neck pickup, so it is great for cutting through the mix when needed.”
These pickups show wear from 20+ years of use, but the wear is strictly cosmetic since the epoxy sealed design keeps the coils protected from just about everything.
One odd thing about these pickups is they have 4 different colored wires + shield connected to each pickup, but as far as I can tell they are not tappable or splittable – the current wiring diagram for the “Original Splits” shows a single conductor, with negative and shield tied together.
Although a pickup's impedance doesn't directly indicate its output, in this case it's a decent approximation - the bass/neck pickup measures 4.3k-ohm and the treble/bridge pickup measures 5.3k-ohm.
They sound good passive, but would probably give their best results with a preamp
