I have two of these and gravitate to the 4. If you’re an Alpher fan, this is a bit of history; if you’re not, these are cool basses to experience.

This was hand-built by Chris at Alpher Instruments in the UK in 2017, with the prototype burnt finish that's become sought after. It's got a monstrous tonal range and I have it set up with very low action and plays with the lightest touch. It's in excellent condition and acquired some mojo patina from being played. This bass is featured on the Alpher site - so you know it's a very good example of their instruments.

The body is one-piece swamp ash (nice and light at approximately 8 lbs on my bathroom scale). The neck and fretboard are both one-piece high-grade birdseye maple with a padauk veneer between them. Matching roasted ash inlay on the headstock. 34" scale, 24 fret. and I'd describe the neck profile as flat and thin. Nut width is 1 13/16". There's a cool neck side inlay with Luminlay dots. Pickups are Nordstrand Dual Coil, passive with a 4-way selector; neck, bridge, and then both in either series or parallel. All the hardware is black Hipshot. It ships in a nice Mono gig bag, boxed and insured to the Continental US.

I would prefer to sell this, but I’m also hankering to try a Moollon P4 if there’s a trade out there.

That is correct. It’s the only bass I’ve owned that didn’t have a volume control. For most of my basses, the volume is wide open and I control the volume from the amp so my output isn’t changed into the pedal board, amp or DI. The tone is adjusted by selecting one or a combination of pickups.
