The Ampeg SVT-200T is a big head from the 90s with classic looks and sounds, paired with some extra features to make it more modern sounding than you may initially think.
This is a 350w (@4Ω) solid state beast of a head which is made to last. And while it has a lot of the features that make it all the old-fashioned Ampeg sound you could ask for, it does also include some cool switching options to really tailor the sound even further. The EQ section has 4 knobs which can be pulled for more sonic features. The low control has a bass boost, the high control has a high boost, and 2 of the mids have a mid shift.
Add to that, a limiter for speaker protection (which can also be defeated) and the ability to biamp with 2 cabs and adjust for highs and lows. This thing is a more modern take on a classic, for sure.
The amp works great. It was made in the USA in Feb 1991, according to the serial number. The original knobs and logo are gone, but the replacement red knobs look pretty damn sweet on here, if you ask me. There's a few dings in the tolex and some pitting on the chrome, but this thing is 32 years old!
If you're looking for a classic workhorse that won't drain your bank account while you rock it, this thing is hard to beat.
