Used Gamut lyon D and pistoy G. Bought second hand here and they sound fantastic, however my bass didn't agree much with the G string and I had some problems with buzzing. The D string worked perfectly.
Admittedly, the fingerboard on my bass is very much set up for steel strings and it's likely that with a good sanding/oiling and a more scooped setup that the G will work just fine, as it did with the previous owner. Just want to be transparent here.
