Founded in Bakersfield, California in 1952 by Semie Moseley, Mosrite guitars were played by a number of influential rock and roll performers including The Ventures, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Ramone, and Kurt Cobain. The company produced a variety of guitars and basses, was particularly known for its “single and double coil” powerful pickups. Mosrite went out of business in 2009.
Specifications on this 1968 bass of the Celebrity III series, has a hollow body depth of 1 .875 inch, zero fret neck, 22 frets on a 25 1/2″ scale, with neck binding, 1 9/16 nut width, around 15 mm string spacing at the bridge. At 7.5 pounds its nice and light on the neck and shoulder. This bass plays like a dream (Almost like a guitar neck) electronics work very well, the pots and switches work with little to no noise. Both original pickups work are very powerful with their Mosrite (Ventures) sound. Bass was reworked and set up with new EB .105- .050 Flats in 2022 by Bob Shade at Hallmark guitars (see work and payment sheet) in Maryland. Fully functional but not a show piece it has scuffs, chips and dings, but overall pretty nice shape for it's age , but full of vintage quality wood and lots of character. Comes with a newer Taylor hardshell case. Will split shipping cost!
