I have a really cool vintage Fender telecaster Bass for sale or trade. It doesn't have the original pots or case. All else is there including the original sept. 68 dated pup. The pup does need a rewind. It has a 50's black bobbin Seymour Duncan in it now. The Bass sounds insane! Open and loud like a piano. Only other minor thing to report is that sometime in its life a bridge was put on it that had mounting screws in the front . They have been plugged ( see pics). All rest is original and unmolested. The neck is dead straight with no issues. Original frets with lots of life left. It has a newer retro String thru Fender bridge on it right now zero mod of course. The original is in the case. The Bass weighs 9.5 pounds Nothing more to report really. I'm looking to trade for a vintage Jazz Bass or musician stingray, Alembics, lull NR T birds.I'm open and will listen to other trade offers as well. Hit me up with any questions that you may have. Thanks Bass brothers

Grayling,MI.
The first early 68 Telecaster Bass had a different logo, paddle tuners, three ply toilet seat, black, white guard. Later as the year progressed, the logo was changed, the tuners went to chrome clover leaf. Then nickel clover leaf. The guard was changed to a single ply guard ( like a 50's precision )

No and no

Not sure about the tuners (maybe super late 68s had paddle tuners like yours), but pretty sure that pickguard is a replacement (I think not a single one survived to this day due to experimental material used ONLY on tele basses). They cracked and killed all the metal parts (corrosion) left in case, so by mid 70s most of them were gone. Maybe those which werre put outside the case had a bit longer life. Neck looks like a refin to me, never seen clear coat peeling like that. I'd be great to see what's under pickguard and neck pocket too! I really dig those basses. Had a 68 and still have a 69. Love it to death!
