The time has come to thin the herd a bit. I have pulled the trigger on a couple of "dream builds", so I will be posting a few basses for sale. A few of them are fairly unique, so they will be in separate threads for now and linked below once everything is up.
This is a SVS Designs Headless Fretless 8 string with LED Fretlines.
I am the original owner of this bass and commissioned it back in 2018. It was displayed at NAMM in 2019.
The bass has an ash body with spalted maple top. Pickups are a pair of Bare Knuckle dual coils under a single wood cover. Preamp is a 3 band Glockenklang. Hardware is all Hipshot. The fingerboard is polyurethane coated.
The most striking feature are the LED illuminated fret lines. The LED system is all blue LEDs, with green at the 12th, 24th, and final fret lines. Each fretl ine has 2 LEDs, one on each side, to ensure even lighting across the line. The LEDs are controlled with a single ON/OFF switch as shown. I was able to get about 80 hours of full illumination from the single 9 volt that powers the system before having to change batteries.
One thing to note, to make the system work as designed, the binding on the neck is extra wide to accommodate the 2 LEDs per fret line. It takes a little getting used to, but I never found it intrusive. YMMV.
Bass is in mint condition with no scratches, nicks, or dents to speak of. There is no visible playing wear on the fingerboard.
Bass will come in a fairly basic gig bag. Payment accepted via Venmo or Zelle.
