Up for sale is my old Karl Höfner plywood bass. Prefer a local sale in the Fort Worth/Dallas area.
This is a great bass that has served me well for many years. Was a solid performer as a gigging bass that I relegated to backup status when I got my Tyrolean. It's been sitting in the music room for about a year now, just begging to be played.
My original plan was to use it as a backup for conditions that might pose some risk to my good bass (weather, questionable bar, etc...) but I just couldn't bring myself to take it to those locations and grabbed the Yamaha SLB-200 instead.
The details- solid plywood bass (back and top) but the veneer is visually appealing. There are a few ripples in the veneer, but it's been there for years and I haven't seen any change with that in the time I've owned it. Mensure is 41.375 inches (~ 105cm)
Currently strung with Thomastik Spirocore Solo's in standard tuning (the tension makes for a really nice, easy-to-play, feel under the fingers on this bass for jazz). David Graham at Brook Mays Arlington went over the bass with a full fingerboard dressing and setup a while back and it plays great. Added a carbon fiber endpin (from Gollihur Music) in 2019.
Sale will include a student French bow and black gig bag if desired. I can also include a bow quiver from Upton Bass, which I had removed for the photos.
**Realist Lifeline pickup not included in the sale**
