This is my first experience with a Maruszczyk, and my goodness I am blown away by the build quality. You may be able to do different, but I do not think you could do better.
I have been playing bass for about 2.5 years after most my life with guitar. It has been an enjoyable journey of trying different gear and learning what fits me best. The decades with guitar have lead me down the path of short scales for comfort and playability. About the time I purchased this bass I also took in a Nordstrand Acinonyx, and what I have found is that I prefer the narrower 17mm spacing of the Acinonyx. It is a damn fine bass, but the quality Maruszczyk has me yearning for one that meets my specs completely, and I plan to either find or build one in the mold of this Elwood- only with the 17mm spacing (they offer it).
This bass has only been in my possession for a couple months, and due to drummer turnover it has not had the opportunity to leave my house for a single rehearsal. So, it is as I received it- dead mint.
