For sale Fender 1957-59 vintage bass bridge

Whoa... that's unusual.

It seems to me if you traded for a genuine pre-CBS '60s bridge you would be getting the short end of the deal considering the comparative rarity of '57-'59 Fender bass bridges.

It's for you to decide, obviously, but if it were me I'd sooner leave it be or replace it with a correct '60s-style vintage reissue from Fender and keep that '57-'59.

I can see yours is a genuine article.

The story is that I bought the bass from someone that loved to change parts. I'm helping someone sell off his best friends gear, who's passed away and he's aiding his wife.

This one was supposed to be his favorite. The body is 1966 100% original CAR in great condition its age. The easiest thing to compare it too would be a Fender Journeyman. The Journeyman from many feet away look brand new but up close s wen you see al the mark and checking. This is like that. The paint has darkened naturally and is still very brilliant. The original owner moved the thumbrest to be between the bridge and pickup. Many a player has done this. I moved it back and put a tiny piece of natural colored toothpick in the hole. Now it look like just another ding. I may try and get some touchup for that.
Somehow along the way he installed a 57-59 bridge. I'm told he like the older parts more. Besides that the rest of the body is all original. Pickups are grey and show 4-3-66 with all original cloth wires. The pots are both 66's , disc cap and jack. Lastly the guard is a light mint along with the aluminum shield.

To bring it back to spec, I'd need the deeper grooved bridge. I have feelers out with vintage collectors so I figured that I try here too.

The neck is a Jan 64 neck. The logo has the early 51-60 logo, no patent numbers. This is THE logo he had on almost all his basses, original or projects. Someday I'll send it off to John Kallas to work his magic to refinish and and install the proper logo.

Last for this, is that it has a set of early 80's Gotoh reverse tuners. They could stay on, but if I getting antsy I'll need to find a set of Kluson's. All the strap buttons and neck "F" plate are original too

Besides that it kicks butt!!
