This is a Wal Tribute bass made by Octave basses. Like a real Wal, It has a mahogany core, and this one has a Walnut top and back, ebony fingerboard, and a maple neck with rosewood strips. It features made in house multi-coil pickups, and a made in house filter-based preamp that was reverse engineered using real Wals. Also like a real Wal, it has a pick attack mode when the volume pot is pulled out, and each tone knob features "Q-boost" when pulled out. According to my bathroom scale (so results may vary), it's 9lbs 12oz. Wals are heavy!
This is by far the closest I have ever come to the Wal sound without a real one. My father happens to have a real one, and to an untrained ear, you'd be extremely hard-pressed to tell the difference. This is definitely one of the coolest instruments I've ever played, but I'm thinning out the collection (newborns are expensive), and this one was earmarked for a Tool cover band that I don't play in anymore. It has been gigged, but you wouldn't notice if I hadn't told you
