95% of the Noble tone for a lot less cash. Not as pedalboard-friendly, but it doubles as a relatively affordable tube mic pre.

This one is unmodded. Last I checked, there's a guy out in Cali who can still mod them for you. But when I talked to him, he implied it was not worth it. A mod would increase the linearity of the pot and make the unit more full spectrum, but you'd lose more of the tube sag and low-mid fullness which makes this thing desirable in the first place. It might be nice on vocals and other mic-related usages, however.

I have gone back and forth, picked one up about a year ago and use it for all my demos. Sounds great, even just for quick demos you can get a great sound easily.

why not pedalboard pfriendly ?
Compared to a Noble, which is intended for a board, it's a lot bigger and bulkier. I would call this a desktop/floor unit. That being said, you could take the rubber feet off and put it on a big enough board no problem. Thanks for chiming in.

Should the comparison be more to a Reddi? GT made underrated mic pre's and guitar pre's, I assume this is still for sale?
Yes, still for sale. In terms of form fact factor, it's absolutely more like a REDDI. In terms of tone, it called the Noble to mind when I was testing all of my tube preamps at the time. I've never owned a REDDI, but I've enjoyed playing through them in the past. I couldn't say how directly it compares.
