Custom built by acclaimed luthier, Jimmy Coppolo, this
custom P-Bass style 5 is an exquisite example of his work.
Jimmy’s said of this one,
“The cherry burst KBP5 Custom modified has a mahogany body and the maple neck has a grandillo fingerboard.
The KBP5 has a real smooth tone with a great low mid; super for finger style playing.”
Goes without saying that these basses are special and rare on the market these days.
This one as did many came from Bass San Diego back when they were in business. It was once used in tour by Eric Wilson of Sublime.
It’s a passive 5 string with a P/J set up. Plays great.
Very stable. Weighs in on my bathroom scale at 10 1/2 pounds. Comes in the Protec gig bag you see here. Very good condition. plays awesome.
Obviously good looking, mahogany body, with just miles of low end. Really warm, big sound from the bottom up with this sort of bloomy character I associate with mahogany bodies.
KBP SERIES
The KBP was built for our favorite dude, Kirk Burkhardt Powers, who wanted a bass to take out on the road with him that has that classic rock sound. These basses have the mid-punch that is perfect for pretty much any style. Great for those Foreigner cover bands. Or if you’re in Foreigner. Standard KBP basses come with Alder and rosewood, with options of woods, Poly or Nitro, and also the option to upgrade to a “Custom Modified” which adds the J pickup to the body for a PJ configuration.
