Hi TB friends,

If you live near Chicagoland, and have been looking for a Tele bass project to mess with, this is the deal for you!

The good: this is a real Fender body from a '51 CIJ Precision. I stole the neck from it and used in another build. I can provide the serial # if interested. I hated the trans cheeto orange / bus yellow finish, so I stripped it, sanded it down and put a very light coat of clear Watco Danish Oil on it to seal it. It was never abused, so there are no big dings or dents in it. The neck pocket is VERY tight with the few necks I've mated it to. No cracks or weirdness there.

The bad: it's setup for a thru-hole bridge, but it has 2 extra holes for a regular "top load" Fender 5-screw. There are "tugbar" holes from a 72 Tele location. Also, I scratched the '72 pickup location into it (was going to rout it for a "double Tele" config, but never got around to it), please see pictures. Should sand out if you want to stay natural and do the no-pickguard / Cabronita thing, otherwise won't matter if using a regular pickguard. (see close-up pics) The body is made from 4 pieces, and the joints aren't centered like a good "book match," so just FYI. Also, I lost the string ferrules like a dumb-dumb, BUT I managed to find the output jack, so one less thing you need.

I'm also throwing in a SQUIER '72 Tele pickguard, which was hacked very badly by its previous owner (not me). See pics. Note, the Squier '72 pattern and shape is different than the "real" Fender '72 shape, and I couldn't find anyplace which offers a Squier specific pickguard so beware.

Overall, it would be cool to bolt together and have as a kick-around studio bass, or use it as a test mule, etc. It's up to you!

You can pick all of this goodness up in Chicagoland (PM for location) for $1. Would love to see it go to a good home / help out my TB pals.

If you make me hunt for a box, and wrap it up, and take it to the UPS and send it across the USA: $40 and I'll split the actual shipping with you.

Sound good? Will take more pics if interested. Thanks!

There is one TINY ding that I couldn't photograph on the jack cup, it's near my index finger. Sorry about the bad cuticles!

Food for thought: Musikraft (website: Home ) will make you a neck with a square heel (if you don't have one).
