Gorgeous short scale bass from Gretsch. These have developed quite the reputation for being an incredible bang for the buck - but this one has some serious upgrades that improves the sound and versatility:
- Replaced stock tuners with Hipshot Ultralites
- Replaced stock bridge with higher mass and quality bridge
- Shielded the electronics cavity with copper tape
- Replaced the crappy single coil pickups with Artec humbuckers. There was a big controversy over a year ago about the stock pickups being advertised as humbuckers when they were in fact single coils. You can google or search on TB to learn more. Now you can have humbuckers! (these were a direct drop in... no routing was needed)
- Replaced stock electronics with better components, while changing the configuration from volume/tone/pickup switch - to volume/volume/tone. This allows you to dial in your perfect blend between the two pickups. But that’s not all! Both volume knobs are push/pull. When you pull the knob out it splits the coil for that pickup and makes it a single coil! Tons of sounds to be unlocked.
The only cosmetic flaw is a small dent in the finish towards the left edge when you’re looking at the pictures.
Comes with black Fender gig bag and will ship double boxed with the original Gretsch box.
