Here's a very nice Shen SB200 Willow 3/4 size flatback bass, purchased from Steve Swan String Bass in the CA Bay Area in December of 2021. Six months later I moved to Wisconsin. It got a decent amount of run before I moved and for the first year or so here I was playing out with it fairly regularly, but since then my primary focus has been an originals thing that's 100% on electric. I realized last week that it hadn't even been out of its case since last October and don't really see where / how that'd change any time soon. This bass is way too nice for that, and takes up too much room for that.
It's had two hairline splits in the back and one on the top repaired by Double Bass Workshop in Madison, cracks that I'm fairly certain happened during the move from CA to WI. Otherwise there are a couple little dings like you’d expect from a bass that’s been taken to two or three rehearsals or performances a week for a year or so, but is in great shape overall.
Relatively recent Evah Pirazzi strings. Leather bumpers from Gollihur. Fingerboard side dots are just stickers. Set up great. Tons of punch for pizz and can drive a big band no problem. Capable of a ton of volume with the bow and blends excellently in a section. One apparently unique thing about this particular SB200 is that it was apparently part of a very small run of cross-braced flatback SB200’s. I’m not sure how much that matters, but here you go. [UPDATES: SEE MAY 2026 POST BELOW.] Would include the Fishman Full Circle pickup, K&K preamp, really nice case, quiver, and Hercules instrument stand. Can include a basic german bow if you need one.
I'm 90% looking for a sale here, but there is possibly a scenario where I'd trade this for a nice electric upright, like an NS NXTa or Yamaha Silent Bass, plus cash. Go ahead and PM me if you have something you think could work.
Not going to ship it for a sale but happy to show the bass at my house in Milwaukee. I'd drive anywhere within a reasonable day's drive to make a trade work if it's something that makes sense. Price is negotiable.
