Hi all,

This is a Shen SB200 Rogeri model with a mahogany back. I bought this bass a few years ago with the intention of replacing my main bass but changed my mind. In any case I don't need two nice carved basses and am ready to let it go.
Very fun and easy to play bass. There are some nicks here and there but it is in good condition. It has been drilled for a bent endpin by Mike Shank.

i almost bought one just like this. this may even be the same bass?

these are not particularly common, but the one i played sounded absolutely wonderful. mahogany is popular for guitars, but man it makes a hell of a bass. lots of tone and fullness for such a fair price.

Indeed. When I bought my Shen from Mark Leue up in western MA, he had just gotten a couple of the mahogany-backed Rogeris. Maybe this is the same bass? Anyway, that sounded incredible then, this bass sounds incredible in the video, the price is a steal, somebody buy it!!

Indeed - mark leue is where I played the mahogany bass - so I can comment that this specific bass is *stunning*

these rogeris are well proportioned, and this mahogany is the finest example. those deep ribs do a lot for the bass, and it's a very playable shape.

It's an endpin that comes out at an angle which helps make the bass feel lighter when standing or sitting. It also changes the way you balance the bass when standing.

There is a good discussion of the pros and cons on this thread....
Bent Endpin ?

You can see it in the picture showing the back. It would come with the regular endpin as well.

Well you certainly make this bass sing! How does it do for pizz/ jazz applications?

Thank you! It can certainly keep up in pizz situations. I've taken it to a bunch of bluegrass jams, and used it in several musical theater shows. I doubt it would be a first choice for a serious jazzer though. The attack is a bit rounded and doesn't have that pointed "in your face" kind of sound that jazz players seem to look for.
