The Modulus Genesis 4 is a hybrid bass guitar designed by Michael Tobias:
As far a jazz basses go, this is the best sounding I've had or played.
- Features: Bartolini Jazz pickups, high-end tuners, a 9v-3 band active preamp, a soft tone wood neck, and a carbon fiber spine and head stock platform
- Tuners: New Modulus res-o-lite tuners.
- Tone: Warm tone with quick response
- Playability: Flawless play
- Discontinued: Production costs were too high, so it was discontinued in the early 2000s
The name Modulus is a reference to Young's modulus, which measures the stiffness of an elastic material. The use of carbon fiber and other non-traditional materials in the neck of the Modulus Genesis 4 helps to create a lighter, stiffer, and more uniform component than wood. Wood necks are prone to issues like twisting, bowing, and dead spots because wood is a naturally occurring material with variations in density and flexibility.
