Details

Great do-it-all bass for advanced student or freelancer. Nice clear sound with plenty of boom. Sounds great in a concert hall and in a recording studio. Got me through school at Carnegie Mellon and IU, and I used it to win jobs in the Canton Symphony and my most recent gig with the U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own". Heavily sloped shoulders make playing in all positions super comfortable. Maker unknown, but has an interesting fake Natale Carletti label inside. 2024 appraisal by Andy Stetson of Cincinnati Bass Cellar. Top restoration in 2018 by Mike Magee of Pittsburgh; fully chromatic, adjustable C Extension also by Mike. Comes with custom Glenn Cronkhite case. Willing provide videos for sound examples to interested parties, and happy to loan it out for trial locally (DC area).

Beautiful bass! I love the profile. The maker put a lot of love into that one.

What a lovely instrument! I hope to own something like this one day.

I am commenting because I have a question. What is that fabric tied between both f-holes? I have seen it before but I do not know what it is.

Thank you and good luck with the sale!

On my bass a similar string has a Boveda humidifying pack at each end.

I have a Pfretschner bass from the same period. It has a big sound, which I love. The tuning machines look almost the same (look at my profile picture)

I'm really interested--beautiful instrument. I have to consider logistics, as I'm in Carmel, IN. (Planning a trip back to IU anytime soon?). I'm sure we know a lot of the same people--I've played with IU kids over the years in Carmel. We get lots of IU folks thru!

ATTN:
I have decided to put it up in Tom Wolf's shop, Wolf Instruments in Plains, VA. It should be up on their website within a month - they are cleaning it and getting it ready to display. Thank you all for your interest!
