Knowing that I’m going to regret this as soon as it goes out the door, I’ve been hit with a tremendous tax bill and need to let go of some valued possessions, including this lovely 2020 Serek Armitage full scale bass in sunburst, with a Serek B90 pickup, volume and tone controls and a dummy coil under the pick guard, which is activated by a push/pull switch on the tone control. I purchased this used last year from Andy Baxter Bass in the UK. If I’m not mistaken, it had one owner prior to Andy getting it (it was completed 9/2020). I haven’t taken it out of the house, as I’m not gigging as much as i used to, and I’ve only done a little recording at home with it, but it sounds and plays incredibly smooth. The B90 can be as muscular as you want it to, but it can also be mellow. The neck is very comfortable and the body lightweight (7.9lbs). I also own a Serek Midwestern and this feels lighter than the short-scale MW. If i didn’t have the MW custom-built for my 50th birthday during COVID, i might consider letting go of it before this, but the MW has been my main bass for the past 5 years and it will be with me to the end.
There are some nicks/chips and scratches, mainly in the rear, but these were all there when i bought it and a bit typical for Serek’s. The neck has a faint “dimple” around the bass side of the 3rd fret. Again, this was how i received the bass and it never bothered me. Nothing that affects playability.
Hardware is standard Serek Hipshot: Ultralight tuners and the great Hipshot Gibson-style bridge, which is also what my MW has…provides some solid mass and is easily adjustable.
The bass will come with a wool/flannel strap made by this great guy i found on Etsy sometime ago, i think his business is called Mark’s Tweeds and he’s from the UK. Super comfy and durable and i installed quick-release strap locks on it.
When i bought the bass, it had flats on and Andy said he didn’t know what they were, so I’m guessing they hadn’t been changed since the original owner had it. That being said, they sounded great and i kept them on for awhile, until wanting to test out some other options. I’ve bounced between some LaBella Flats and D’Addario NYXL’s. Both sound amazing for the styles of music i typically play. Currently, it’s strung with the NYXL’s, but there is a fresh pack of LaBella flats in the case.
Also included is the original Serek Mono-style gig case. Very sturdy and easy to tote around. I’ll also include a CooperStand folding stand and the original warranty card.
I’d prefer not to ship this, but will if the interest is there. Ideally, I’d like to find a buyer in the New England area (NH, ME, VT, MA, RI, CT) and would be willing to meet someone at a reasonable mid-point.
I’m looking to get $2500 obro. Not interested in trades at all. Let me know if you have any questions.
