I'm selling my 4-string Thunderbolt since I rarely play 4-bangers anymore, TBH, I won't be upset if this doesn't sell. This one is a bit unique in that it has a bird's-eye maple top (I've only seen flamed maple and the cocobolo tops before). It is in good-very good condition, with some cosmetic dings here and there (see pics). Trying to get red to capture correctly has been an uphill battle!
The Thunderbolt has seen quite a few changes over the years, regarding its pickup and preamp, and this one has the passive Bartolini BC4K (later models were active) along with the mystery black boxes that are the proprietary preamp for Pedulla, made by Bartolini. The only change on this is that I replaced the standard volume pot with a push/pull to coil tap (down = series [Pedulla standard] and up = single coil). The non-active proprietary pickups can be coil tapped, as per Doug@Bartolini.
The other knobs are pickup pan, tone, and the Thunderguts switch (a low-mid boost).
The frets are in good shape, and the truss rod nut is nice and squared, as it should be (truss rod tool is included).
It is currently strung with Ernie Ball Cobalts (45-100), which really bring out the growl in this bass.
The action is set fairly low (measured at the 12th fret, open string): E=1.5mm, A=1.25MM, D=1.0MM, G=1.0MM. I know this might not be optimal for everyone, but you can see the action can get pretty low.
Comes with a non-original hard-shell case
The two samples have no processing on it, other than a HPF at 50hz because the kick drum had too much oomph.
Each file has two parts recorded: pickups in series, then pickups as single coil (I did bump the vol on the single coil to match the series volume or else it would have been too low, as is the case with coil taping from series to single coil).
My playing is a bit of a mess, and ironically, not a bassline I would typically play.
